Kerala, also popularly referred to as ‘God’s Own Country’ is one of the southernmost states in the Indian mainland. It is bordered by Karnataka to the north and northeast, Tamil Nadu to the east and south, and the Lakshadweep Sea. The state is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India and the world. In 2012, National Geographic's Traveler magazine named Kerala as one of the "ten paradises of the world" and among "50 must-see destinations of a lifetime".
The state is blessed with pristine beaches, serene backwaters, beautiful lakes, lush green mountain ranges, magnificent waterfalls, ancient and historic ports and royal palaces, religious heritage sites and wildlife sanctuaries are major attractions for both domestic and international tourists. There are major airports based in Cochin, Trivandrum, Calicut, and Kannur.
