Uttarakhand is also lovingly referred to as ‘Devbhumi’ meaning the Land of the Gods. A region of untouched natural beauty, Uttarakhand is a Himalayan state located in North India, famously known as Devbhumi (or the Land of the Gods). This state was a part of Uttar Pradesh earlier. The state is popular as a pilgrimage destination because of the originating spot of two sacred rivers in Hinduism, the Ganga, and the Yamuna. Every year thousands of pilgrims make their way to Uttarakhand to take part in the famous Char Dham pilgrimage that consists of the four holy sites - Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The major airport is in Dehradun and the best times to visit are from September to October and from March to April.
